Why has the Moonfruit platform been decommissioned?
The Moonfruit platform has served its customers since 2000, however it was built using Adobe Flash which is no longer supported and therefore doesn’t deliver a reliable experience in modern browsers. As the owner of Moonfruit, Yell took the decision to close the platform in line with its recent partnership announcement with Wix, one of the world’s leading web development platforms. The Moonfruit platform was decommissioned on 7 December 2021.
Who is my website with now that the Moonfruit platform has closed down?
Yell, as the owner of Moonfruit, is now responsible for hosting your website. Yell has moved your website content from Moonfruit to Wix.
Do I contact Yell or Wix if I have questions about my website?
If you have any queries about your website product or billing, you need to contact Yell as your contract is with them. Visit https://www.yell.com/contactus/#/ to speak with a member of Yell’s Customer Care team. Wix is the website platform provider that Yell has partnered with to host and build customer websites, and Wix online customer support will be able to help with website functionality questions but will have no information about your account or billing.
Why is Yell detailed as the ‘owner’ of my website on the Wix platform?
Yell is assigned as the ‘owner’ of every Moonfruit customer website that has been migrated to the Wix platform so it can help with any issues with editing or maintaining your website; plus it enables Yell to manage platform fees directly which is cheaper than you paying Wix individually.
Who am I paying for my websites now Moonfruit has closed?
Your invoices will now be issued by Yell, with payment taken via a platform called Cybersource which integrates with Yell’s billing systems. You do not need to pay any money to Wix, as this is fully managed by Yell.
Why can I see another person’s credit card details again the premium plan on my newly migrated Moonfruit website?
These are dummy credit cards which enable Wix to count how many Moonfruit websites have been migrated to the Wix platform, so they can invoice us correctly. Please be assured that your payment details are securely held within the Cybersource system, and you will be invoiced by Yell for the same amount you paid to Moonfruit.
My website has been migrated to Wix, however I can’t view it publicly – how can I fix this?
Please log into your Wix website dashboard and check that your domain is connected. If it is, the domain name and ‘View Live site’ should be displayed.
If your domain is not connected, it will say ‘Connect Your Own Domain’. Click on this link and follow the instructions on how to connect your domain. You may need to contact your domain provider for assistance.
My Moonfruit domain was with Namesco, how do I get access to this?
Namesco is still your domain provider, so please visit the Namesco website to log in and manage your domain settings there.
My email inbox was on the Moonfruit platform, how do I get access to this now the platform is closed?
The email inboxes on Moonfruit were hosted and managed by Namesco, so please visit the Namesco website to log in and access / manage your email inbox.
My website has been migrated from Moonfruit to Wix, however I am not happy with the new website, how do I get this fixed?
If you are not happy with your migrated website (and it is not related to the below items which need to be rebuilt yourself via the Wix website editor), Yell can re-run the migration of your website up until Friday 31st December. After this time, we will not be able to re-migrate any websites, and any issues will need to be addressed yourself using the Wix website editor.
Known items that cannot be migrated:
- E-commerce stores
- Blogs
- Booking functionality
- Instagram Feeds
- Twitter Feeds
- Members only pages i.e. any page that requires a user to login
- iFrames of third party software (these will have been migrated but may look slightly different)
Do I need to repoint my domain name or is this taken care of?
If your domain name was purchased via the Moonfruit platform with Namesco, this will have been repointed for you. If your domain name is with any other provider, you will need to repoint this yourself. You should have received full instructions on how to do this both before and after migration by email.
How do I repoint my domain to my new website on the Wix platform?
We will set your site up with a premium plan on the Wix platform so you will be able to follow the instructions here to connect your new site to a third party domain.
How do I make sure any links I had to pages on my Moonfruit website pages continue to work?
You can set up 301 redirects using the Wix platform, please read this help article.
I had an e-commerce store on my Moonfruit site, have all my products and orders been migrated over to my new Wix website?

I had bookings functionality on my Moonfruit website, has this functionality been migrated to my new Wix website?
It was not possible to move bookings functionality between platforms so you will need to recreate this manually on the Wix platform. Please view this step-by-step guide for setting up bookings. If you currently use Google Calendar, you can also sync this to your new bookings system within the Wix platform by following this guide.
I had an Instagram and/or Twitter Feed on my Moonfruit website, has this functionality been migrated over to my new Wix website?
It was not possible to set up your Instagram and/or Twitter Feed on your new Wix website as this requires the owner to provide their log in details. Please read the below guides on how to set these up on your new Wix website:
I had Members/Subscriber only pages on my Moonfruit website, have these pages and my members list been migrated to my new Wix website?
Yell is not able to access pages with passwords on them, so these pages will not appear on your new Wix website. You will need to recreate these pages manually using functionality available on the Wix platform.
You will need to re-invite members or subscribers to your new website.
I had an iFrame of a third-party app on my Moonfruit site, has this functionality been migrated to my new Wix website?
Yes, any existing third party iFrames will have been migrated to your new Wix website. However, it may look slightly different, but you can use the Wix website editor to make styling changes to it as needed.
In my Moonfruit package I had the ability to create new sites up to a certain limit, can I do this on the Wix platform?
No. Yell has migrated all websites that you had already built on the Moonfruit platform, but any unused ‘credits’ from your old package with Moonfruit are not available going forward. If you want to build and publish new websites on the Wix platform, you can buy these directly from Wix using your existing account on the platform.
Can I optimise my website with new functionality, or refresh the design as part of the migration process?
Once Yell has migrated your website(s) over to Wix, you will be able to edit their design and content, plus add new functionality from a range of available features. You will also have access to a full support library to help and support you while making changes.
How do I access my new website and make changes to it?
You should have received an email from Yell to confirm your website migration, followed by emails from Wix for each website that was migrated, inviting you to contribute to the new website. You need to create an account on the Wix platform to access these websites and edit them.
Where can I get help and support for my new Wix website?
Once your website(s) has been migrated to the Wix platform, you will have access to a full support library which can also be accessed via the dashboard on the Wix platform.
What happens to the invoicing process when my website moves to the Wix platform?
The amount you pay is the same as before, however the platform you are invoiced via will change from Stripe to Cybersource. Your invoices will be available via Yell’s Customer Account dashboard which you will receive email instructions on how to access.
How do I access performance analytics for my website?
Website performance data such as website traffic can be accessed for each website via your dashboard on the Wix platform.
Where can I view my invoices?
New invoices will be available via Yell’s Customer Account dashboard, which you will receive email instructions on how to access. Previous invoices from the Moonfruit platform are no longer accessible now the platform has closed.
How do I cancel my newly migrated Moonfruit website(s)?
Yell would be sorry to lose you as a customer and that you do not wish to benefit from the improved functionality that the Wix platform has to offer. Please click here for details on how to cancel.
